As we gear up for another tantalising eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing event, Georgia Leybourne, CMO at eCommerce inventory and order management software business Linnworks discusses the things she’s most looking forward to at the show and the importance of the event in bringing people together.

 

What industry trends are you looking forward to seeing at this year’s eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing?

I’m most looking forward to seeing technological advances that take operations to the next level, such as partnerships/alliances, connectivity, inter-operability, integrations, and complementary solutioning with a focus on ‘making it happen’ for the customer.

 

What are the biggest challenges facing eCommerce retailers heading into Q4 and peak season?

One of the biggest challenges will be economic headwinds, as ‘share of wallet’ is going to be a big factor in the peak season festivities. In terms of technological prowess, those who have taken the time to invest in the right solution will ride the waves more easily than those still manually managing their businesses. It’s also about being in the right place at the right time. With marketplaces growing in diversity and relevance, you have to be ‘in it’ to win it.

 

What is most exciting to you about the eCommerce and digital marketing industry right now?

Technology. It surrounds us. It gives us easier access to the market. It connects us to others who complement who we are and what we do. It makes shopping easier for the customer. And, ultimately, it makes commerce easier for those in retail.

 

Why is it important to bring the industry together at events like eCommerce Expo and Technology for Marketing?

To learn, to network, to solution. In-person gives us all the opportunity to sanity check our approach, connect with our community and get work done effectively.

 

What’s the best piece of advice you would give to new people joining the industry?

Be bold and talk to each other. Put your mobile down, engage and keep your eyes and ears wide open.
