Prism DM launches Spectrum – a global platform for multi-channel business expansion

The development team at Prism have been busy lately, and the results of their efforts are now being exploited by Long Tall Sally, a leading UK based fashion retailer with stores in the US, Canada, and Germany as well as the UK.

With the Prism WMS (Warehouse Management System) installed at operational sites in North America and Europe, the challenge was to provide visibility of stock in all stores and warehouses both to the merchandisers in their London Head Office, as well as to customers via the e-commerce platforms servicing B2C sales on two continents. In response to this the Prism team have developed a Global Despatch Rules Engine (GDRE) that sits at the core of their systems now coined Spectrum which controls the optimised stock draw for both direct sales and store replenishment.

The real-time allocation of stock units across the global stock holding allows for maximum fulfilment from minimal stock, and takes into account various complications of cross border multi channel trading including stock reserve by channel, country of origin, supplier covenants, customer or store classification, packaging, shipping service and duty costs, white and black lists for destinations by product category, as well as determining the optimal quantities by style and variant to be shipped to each store or within each customer order package.

The Store Replenishment module within Prism-Net (Prism DM’s web-based reporting and application platform) has also had an extensive makeover, considerably reducing the time taken by merchandising to launch replenishments, generating orders for all stores in a couple of clicks. The orders are then available in the local WMS for picking operations to start within minutes.

Prism DM clients using their recently launched EPOS retail systems can also leverage the in store stock holding to fulfil B2C orders, and handle customer returns from sales via any channel, as in store staff can access any customer’s full transaction history.

Prism have also enhanced the usability of their till application by announcing a fully featured IPAD enabled version allowing store assistants to roam or lounge with the customer throughout their shopping experience.
